When Are You Going To Start Helping People?

How to help othersIt’s time for you to step up and start playing big. What am I talking about? You’ve been holding back too long, afraid that maybe you don’t have all the answers. Unsure that anyone is really willing to listen to you. Ironically, you crave freedom and and the ability to be yourself .. yet you’re drawn to security and have a hard time stepping away from it. Deep down, you know that you’re not giving it everything you’ve got – but there’s something stopping you from just throwing off the chains, and “going for it“.

And I’m here to challenge you to start living into who you are, and who you can be.

One of the most frustrating things about working with so many amazing people over the years is that even though EVERYONE has a unique gift or talent to bring to the world, very few ever accept this reality .. and even less people ever DO anything about it. I don’t want this to happen to you. Can you truly, honestly say that you’re living 100%, and doing everything you can to make this a better world for us all to share? If so, I applaud you. Very few can honestly answer “yes” to this question. If you’re not, that’s okay. For now. But I’m calling you on it .. this very second. And it will NOT be okay from this point forward. Because you have something to share .. you’ve got something inside you that could improve the life, bring joy, and change the path for someone out there. Do you realize how powerful this is? Literally, you stand on the edge of changing lives, and here you are, wondering if anyone would really listen to you. You were not put on the planet to second guess yourself, and it’s time that you started living into your greatness.

This entire conversation is one that I had with myself several years ago.

I felt like I had a lot of value to bring to the world, but I was being selfish .. lazy .. and was simply keeping it to myself. So I made a decision to step out of my comfort zone, and share what I could with others. And the results were stunning. I started sharing with I thought was a “little” bit of knowledge and insight, and people started telling me that I had opened their eyes. That their perspective had changed, and I had given them a different way to think. Many people told me that I had “changed their life”, and that I was responsible for them achieving financial freedom, or just more fulfillment and joy in their life. Until this happens to you, you have NO idea how powerful this is. I went into my drycleaner last year, and while I was waiting for them to bring out my things, the delivery guy came out from the back and introduced himself. He said he had attended one of my programs a few years earlier. He said he heard my name mentioned at the counter, and just wanted to come out and say thank you. He went on to tell me that based on the program he took with me (that cost $200), he decided to take action on what I taught him. He ended up buying some rental properties and thinking differently about money. He worked hard, and he ended up achieving financial freedom. He was a millionaire, and was financially set for his life. You probably don’t know it, but you changed my life Greg. I just wanted to say thank you for that.” And he shook my hand. And here was the best part – he told me that the reason he’s still a delivery guy is because he loves doing it. “I love my customers and meeting new people. And now I get to do this because I want to, not because I have to. Thank you.” I walked out of the store that day and sat in my car, weeping. I had just been given the most profound and incredible gift of my life. I had changed a life. I think this is why parenting is such a deeply moving experience that you can only understand when you experience. It’s because you’re given a precious opportunity to form, shape and guide a life. And that is truly the single most powerful opportunity any of us are ever given. So .. back to you. You’re being given a chance, every day in your life.

You may not believe it .. yet .. but you have a talent and gift inside you that the world NEEDS.

In today’s world of uncertainty, anxiety and lack of confidence, YOU hold the keys to changing someone’s life. Possibly several. Maybe even millions. If this all sounds too serious and deep, you’re not hearing me. I really want you to get this, because I need you to step up and help make a difference out there. And I’m not talking about in a bleeding heart, feel-sorry-for-people way. I’m talking about really stepping into yourself, and making a DECISION today that you’re going to help make someone else’s life better. Deciding that you’re going to share your knowledge, your insight, your experience and your talents. That you’re not going to wonder if you really have anything to contribute .. you’re just going to believe (and know) that you, and find a way to share it. And here’s the truly magical thing about this: If you do this, and you do it for the right reasons, the universe will conspire to reward you for it. You’ve probably heard me talk about this before – the reward and compensation you get from the world is equal to the amount of VALUE you create for others. So .. what is YOUR gift or talent that you can share with others? How can you give someone else some hope .. some confidence .. a reason to believe in themselves? Because as an entrepreneur, that’s TRULY the question you need to answer. Once you do, not only do you begin to LOVE what you do, you actually can create a powerful and sustainable income from it. And there’s no better place than that .. creating a fabulous life, getting paid well, and loving what you do. So … don’t you think it’s time you stepped up? Post a comment below and tell me what YOUR gifts and talents are. What is the biggest obstacle holding YOU back from living into what you LOVE doing, and help others?]]>

1. Instead of freaking out and giving up (like usual) I’ve done more on my business plan already since reading this article, I’ve emailed some people about sourcing the things that I need to make it work. Sent another email with more work for my graphic designer and will phone the accountant now to discuss incorporating! In two words TAKING ACTION is what I’m doing about it! 🙂

1. Absolutely I did!

okay- I posted after just the first few paragraphs- so now that I finished the whole blog here is my answer to your final questions.

What do I have to share? I have an extreme wealth of knowledge int the area’s of mind, body and spiritual healing- both from training (I have a bachelors in Physical Therapy, a Masters in Counseling and training in 5 different healing modalities), I read 2-3 books a week and my real life experience has been dealing with the most traumatized kids in our culture (www.stampederanchforkids.com), having 3 kids of my own, homeschooling and I’m a 10 year survivor of Stage 4 cancer- treated with ass kicking chemo and a stem cell transplant. Last year I won the Oprah lottery- was able to get ticket to her show and the taping was on hoarders- Gregg and followers- I am an information hoarder! I have fiddle faddled (well, more than that I organized and implemented 9 workshops over the past 2 years, set up my website, wrote an ebook and am active on facebook and twitter) but I haven’t fully stepped into what I know I can do. So…thanks for this opportunity to share, I had already declared this my year of the share- but your timely blog-like Jocasta says above me here- there are no accidents- exactly what I needed to hear this am.
Much love,

4. Thank you Greg for these words. I am 59 and learning how to create my own website so that I can start to share with others. I am apprehensive but I feel that I have value to add to people so I'm going for it with faith and trust in the Universe.

1. Barbara, congrats for not letting something like setting up a website get in your way! In the grand scheme, it's a small detail on the path to sharing your message. Good luck and thank you for sharing.

6. Thank you so very much for this post! Very reminiscent of the many presentations shared at Engage Today. It's nice to get a little reminder every now and then that our gifts and talents are meant for so much more than we think they are. I'm currently working on one of my several visions to help people, but the road has been long due to chronic and long-standing health issues setting me back. Yet, still keeping the dream alive! Thanks.

8. Greg,

I HAVE begun to help people, in fact every day it seems I am telling people what I know, where I've come from and how much they deserve to move alongside me towards wealth of the soul and financial freedom. I have spent the last eighteen months focused on impacting peoples' lives positively – it has been a challenge to educate, but I continue to press forward. I write personal journey blogs every week and distribute a 'how to' newsletter to those whom have put up thier hand.

I am proud to say that very recently, the attraction has changed to my favour and people are realizing what I have been trying to do for them. I am now able to sit and construct a very fair wealth building opportunity with a handful of people.

Determination, accountability, integrity, faith and a COMPLETE passion to help individuals succeed has helped me press forward weekly. THIS is how I am helping people TODAY. There will be more to come!

You are a true inspiration to my passion and I thank you.

10. Gregg, thank you thank you thank you… 🙂 I came to a Simple Wealth Summit that you held last year, and saw yourself and many other speakers (one of them was James Ray), and felt like you had awakened something in me…I wasn’t sure exactly what yet, but I knew it was a path I’d been tipping my toes on, but this somehow led me onto that path. Prior to that I had become certified as an NLP Practitioner. But never did anything with it! Had the knowledge – but never put it into practice. Then this year, instead of continuing further with that and going on to the Master NLP Practitioner certification…my path slightly changed – for what I feel was for the better. (continued on next post)

12. (continued from previous comment) …I registered in the Law of Attraction Coach certification program with Christy Whitman (I’m currently still enrolled, and it’s a 12 month program so ends next May 2011). BUT, here’s the thing – YOU once again gave me a nudge. who knew! lol But this email I got today with the subject line of “when are you going to start helping people?” — if you only knew how stuck I was until now. Your words of “You’ve been holding back too long, afraid that maybe you don’t have all the answers. Unsure that anyone is really willing to listen to you. Ironically, you crave freedom and and the ability to be yourself .. ” it was as if you were talking to ME! Thanks for the shot in the arm…from this day forward I am going to do just that, HELP PEOPLE. Thanks Gregg, you are a very special man (and what a beautiful family).

14. Greg, thank you for writing this article. I have been "sitting on my hands" (read: making excuses), to keep myself grounded and not letting go of the comfort. I know I have a gift to share and I know what it is, and I feel like a shrinking wrap under a flow of hot air, every time I find a reason to not go for it. I will reread this article as many times as it will take for me to get going.

With Gratitude,
Anna

16. Hi Greg,

Great posting and idea. Sometimes you do not know what is holding you back. I like solving real estate problems, I have been successful in my line of work. I would like to talk to you, I have been focusing in small problems. Would you be kind enough to give me a few minutes of your time. Camilo. http://camilo.ca

18. Hi people,
whatever spiritual road we find ourselves on whatever pathway we walk down ,remember its your choice ,whatever happens at the end or middway you yourself have created the outcome
life is not abut making money and wealth but being able to be free to choose.your own pathway given basic rules of man
to be tolaerant towards others, use your wisdom in deep measure forgivness is a virtue surrender to love and peace
I have conqured racismn in its many forms by having a best friend be they black or white
not to recognise colour as a barrier but to use it as a stepping stone of wisdom
,i have tasted elixier of life and laughed aloud ,i have sang to the moon
and laughed at the stars,i have cried aloud from bygone pain ,have you felt or tasted any pain
all of this hasnot cost me a single penny
Therfore offering words of care is all i can do the rest i say its up to you

20. Greg I sincerely believe that I am making this a better world day by day. My gifts to my localized world do reap both financial rewards and emotional rewards for my family and myself. I buy and renovate bank owned houses (REO’s). I keep a reno crew of six people working as well as many specialists (HVAC,plumber,etc.). Upon finishing a total renovation I rent a totally rehabbed home at a very affordable monthly rent to families that really are happy to be moving in. Whenever possible I do sell a rehabbed home for a price 25% under current market price and again make a family very happy for the home they are getting. I feel that my entrepreneurial venture is a direct inspiration from you and I honestly believe that I am giving back to this world and making it a better place

1. Hey George, thanks for the comment and I agree
.. you ARE living it! Thanks for being such a great example for others.

22. Greg, count me as another one who was meant to read your blog. Thank you so much. I have worked hard at everything I have taken on. But none of them are as hard as the choice to play small and TRY to hide. I at least come to the point of recognizing this and working on the steps to Play BIG. This is timely as I proceed on to the next inch. Mostly because of your huge point of WHY we need to share and be who we can be. Helping one or a million and one makes no difference in numbers. If it is only one then that one can perhaps help a trillion. A Big Hug.

24. Greg,
You inspire me with your generosity in giving from the heart. This article is exactly how I feel about life and it’s hard to describe the joy that comes from helping others succeed, but it’s one of the most fulfilling (if not THE most fulfilling) experiences I’ve ever had. I speak nationally to wedding filmmakers and I mention you and your blog every time because I trust your motives and your skills.
My goal is to inspire others to recognize their unique gifts and act upon them and I do that through my films. For my presentation in Orlando last month, I put together this 1.5 min video that conveys that message: http://www.vimeo.com/14459160 (You have to watch it until the end!). It’s so important to embrace your dream, no matter what others think. Some people look down on the fact that I film weddings, but this is what I’m talking about: http://www.vimeo.com/13241045 This 1.5 minute clip shows the exact moment when I just really got it – that I do make a difference, that I have something to offer, that no matter the excuse I can’t deny the world of who I am because no one else in this entire world can substitute me.
Thanks so much for inspiring me Greg, I truly wish you all the success in the world because everyone needs to hear your message. I’m going to do my part in passing it along at my presentation in Salt Lake this month and then New Jersey next month 🙂

26. Perfect timing!! I am always in awe in the way the Universe works! I needed to be reminded that the reason I started this was to help people!! I am a Holistic Life and Wellness Coach and the summer was a rough one. It could have been very easy to start feeling sorry for myself, now it is not. Thank you for the kick in the pants!

28. Greg: That sounded like me. I am writing a book and hope to become a professional speaker, but sometimes I am not sure people will listen to me, or that I have anything original to say. After all, there really are no new concepts. I hope my unique perspective will resonate with others like me. Thanks!

30. Your email reaches me at the right moment in time. I have been closed in my office bedroom for the last 2 weeks, with the curtains drawn, sitting at a desk, with my computer in front of me and a pitcher of water at my side. I am concentrating on rebuilding much that I and my family has lost during these difficult times. At times I forget that there are other people out there that, have, and still are, suffering from, feelings of self doubt. That are wondering how they are going to provide food, shelter, and protect those who are close to them. While it is critical for me to stay focused on the task at hand, I am aware that there are many that have challenges that may be more difficult than those that I face. In the past I did not take advantage of all the opportunities to help when I could have. When I should have.
God willing, I will open the door to this room and go out and have a positive, beneficial effect for someone, today. That is something that I know I can do… today.

Thank You for your email

32. My name is Gloria, I am able to communicate with young people, from the very young pre-school to teenagers, I’m able to see their point of view without being judgemental, offer a solution without being pushy, I do this because I visualise myself in their position.

I developed this talent when I had my son who will be 16 on the 20Th of this month, my husband passed away a few months before my son was born, I remember holding my baby feeling very, very sorry for myself and I heard a voice telling me to “be a woman” the voice kept on repeating “be a woman”, I then realised that I had to be strong to bring my boy up to be a good man who will give something back to humanity.

I recognised that the key to the relationship between my son and myself is honesty, communication, respect and love, we have a great mother son relationship.

My biggest obstacle money.

34. I doubled my income 5 times in ten years. In that growth I learned what it takes to make 100,000 is not what it takes to make 300,000. I started a 7.00 dollar an hour job, posting my plans on paper before they had blogging and tweets. The concept is same today as it was ten years ago. I can just share it with others. The question now is how to double it one more time! Helping others, building networks, having consistent positive behavior and doing not just what my mentors say, but doing what they actual do to create a positive and meaningful base for a successful and successive future.

Helping others, building networks, having consistent positive behavior and doing not just what my mentors say, but doing what they actual do to create a positive and meaningful base for a successful and successive future.

36. Hi Greg,
This almost made me cry, my eyes got wet and I feel something is moving inside, thank you.

My talent that I am extremely creative and I am a conceptual artist. In the past, I have created retail stores aiming to inspire people to use condoms (Condom Shack and La Capoterie), those stores are still open 19 years later. I can create long lasting concept.

Then I created stage performances to teach kids all kinds of elements from the school curriculum, and then was asked to create a show to make English Canadian kids to fall in love with french. I’ve been doing this for 6 years now, but barely make any money. So last year I created a not for profit org: Languagesonstage.ca to try to raise funds.

I think my hidden talent is that I have huge charisma and could become a public person for the organization, and in the future, for other org, and convince corporations and government bodies to contribute funds. I am still scared of assuming this.

I am putting on the third fundraising event. The first I raised $120, the second $80, this one I aim $250,000!!! Greg told me I was not thinking big enough so there I am.

I will cycle 2500 km, putting up for sponsorship each km for $100 each. That will allow the org to put on 250 concerts, for over 50,000 kids next year! Yeah!!

Please contact me if you want to sponsor

38. No question Greg! Great post! I'm creating an entire brand around "Showing Up" and you hit the nail on the head. We all have gifts and talents that can uplift humanity, yet for many they just pushed aside due to fear. Oddly enough it is mostly fear of success than that of failure. I heard a passage that really stuck a chord with me and I tell it often; You can drive by any cemetery and if you listen closely, you will hear a symphony from all the people that died with their song still inside them. We all need to get our "song" out to the world. Thank you for singing yours Greg! 🙂

40. THANK YOU, Greg!

This the conversation I was having with my business partner yesterday. We are already scheduled to do a healing session just a few minutes from now. Synchronicity is amazing.

My gift, since you asked: I help people connect Science with Spirit. To see not only that the two can coexist but that Science IS Spirit and vice versa. And then to take that understanding and apply it to everyday life as a way of living that includes things like checking in with Guidance when making business decisions, muscle-testing in the grocery store, and incorporating meditation as automatically as we make time to brush our teeth each day.

What I’m going to do is to ACTUALLY DO the things I keep talking about–create the products and programs that have recently been forming in my mind and heart. And to do so I will get over the brain fog that creeps up each time I sit down to work on these things by using the exact methods I intend to teach about–connecting into Guidance, clearing my mind, and calming my body. And remembering that I’m not doing this alone, as this synchronicity has reminded me.

I give you infinite thanks for intersecting with me at this moment so that I could renew my commitment.

44. Greg, I have been handed some unexpected challenges over the last couple of years, mostly due to poor choices I made. Essentially, at a very late stage in my working career, I am starting to rebuild my net worth from the bottom, and am faced with reconfiguring my career. I am scared to death, to be perfectly honest.

Last week I subscribed to the VBU program you are part of. As you may know, the very first presentation suggested we determine are mission. I have been struggling with that. However, I think I now know why I have been handed these challenges.

My mission is to recover from my adversities and to show others that there is always a way back from despair, no matter how late in life we begin.

Thank you for your input.

1. Hi Dan, your story and journey are the raw materials of a powerful and compelling reason why people will listen to you. Use your experiences as fuel to give you the focus and strength to share your message. In today's world, there cannot be enough inspiration and motivation for people to look to.

46. Excellent post, Greg! I love your question, “What is the biggest obstacle holding YOU back?” I know it’s NOT that I have inflammation and pain from an autoimmune disease. I know it’s NOT that I’m financially destitute. I know it’s NOT that I have fear. I think I’ll have to delve deeper to find the true answer to the biggest obstacle holding ME back. Thank you for the inspiration!

58. I have a massive multi- tude of gifts and talents, alot inherited from spirit – god! And over all of my lifetime I have used each and everyone of them to help others on there paths, and I enjoyed doing it. From coaching, teaching, training in a motivative, encouraging, supportive way, I like to inspire people and am very creative in my thinking – always outside the box, perhaps due to having dyslexia. I also try to bring in peace to a situation and would have negotiated for this, by adequetley supporting people when they requested it, to giving spiritual advice and healing to others – these are natural gifts with no qualifications! hence they were mostly used in the voluntary sector. I would like to use these gifts in paid employment now, as I know from doing them that they suit me and I love them all. I am also deeply spiritual and am attracted to the healing, spiritual and holistic fields and I know that I can incorporate all my natural abilites together to create this for myself given the know how. By the way a fantastic inspiring article.

60. Hi Greg,

Thanks for this post. I’m getting lots of hints like this lately. I’ve got a book that I’m finishing up to be published in the next two weeks. It’s both scary and exciting at the same time. It sure feels good to be so close to completion. I don’t know how big or how small it’s going to be, but I am happy to do it.

What’s interesting is that as I started this process 6 weeks ago, I received a download of a really big vision. Another book. So, if nothing else, this first one will get me somewhat comfortable with the publishing process. I’ve started writing down my ideas and questions and thinking about who I can partner with on the new project (this one is bigger than just me). And then came the invitation from you to join you at the Visionary Business University. Such an exciting line up of thought leaders to keep me moving along the path.

Thank you for all you do (and for encouraging me to do all I can do).

Blessings,
Sharon

66. I've often thought that maybe I have a story to tell, that might help others achieve success. When I read Rich Dad Poor Dad, I realized that most of what was said in the book was exactly my game plan for the past 20 years. I own 2 large flooring stores, and 2 laundromats, just outside of New York City. I built, bought, & sold, real estate since my early twenties. I have several Rental properties. I guess what I'm saying is that, I had a plan. I knew that if I accumulated investments that gave me a return, I could one day live off the income. Now at 45, my family and I are living very comfortably. Paul Marks

70. Thank you, Greg, for a fabulous post – very thought provoking!
I’d have to say that what stood out for me was your paragraph:

I think this is why parenting is such a deeply moving experience that you can only understand when you experience. It’s because you’re given a precious opportunity to form, shape and guide a life. And that is truly the single most powerful opportunity any of us are ever given.

I’m a stay-at-home mom of 6 children ages 12, 10, 8,6,3 and 1. I love being a mom, and times with my little ones (especially) make my heart melt. However, lately my biggest passion is reading about/talking with others about/thinking about how this magnificent universe works. I had a revelation of deep peace, gratitude, and all-encompassing love about 4 years ago. It has changed the way I view the world considerably. Existence is truly fascinating to me – and helping others see the power they have to create their lives is something I feel very passionate about.
Here is my question…How high can I set my sights? I would love to be a public speaker, author, international day-tripper (hehe!). Can’t quite figure out how that would fit in with my current work (being a Mom, that is). I would love to hear your thoughts – and if you know of any outstanding women who have raised or are raising children and sharing this kind of information with others – I would love to learn more about them. Again, thank you for your message, as always!

72. Greg,

I wanted to burst into tears reading this as I've been facing many challenges in business over the past two years. I had been feeling overwhelmed and unclear about whether the direction I'm heading is the direction I am supposed to be heading. This made be reconnect with what at a heart felt level I want and need to be doing. It helped me to remind myself that I've always landed on my feet and I always will and it's just a matter of the door opening and I'll be prepared to walk through. I named my company Inspired Success Consulting for a reason and inspiration is what will take me the distance. Thanks for keeping that inspiration alive.

Thanks again for the thought leadership

74. Thank you for the lifeline it came when I needed it the most, it is good to feel connected with the Elite of society, albeit for a moment.

76. My obstacle is that I am aware of my talents. I believe that I am a gifted creator of many pieces to a puzzle that include mostly inventions that range from tools, to software, energy generators and much more. It all fits together in a way that allows us to buy products (for those who want it) to be totally independent individuals, throughout every aspect of life. My challenge is that I can build tools and certain things to a point but I think that my ideas need to happen at warp speed and some of them are high tech and require specialists. I feel pressured that I am running out of time and cannot waste any trying to become an expert in every field. I need millions, maybe billions of dollars to fund these things but I just don’t even come close to having a fraction of it. I believe these products would change life on a planetary scale and empower the individual. I am not rich, where are the rich and powerful risk takers that will talk to me?

1. Joe, start with ONE. The problem is you're overwhelming yourself, and distracting yourself. You have to pick ONE idea and focus ONLY on it. Then when you make it successful, that will help create capital, and then supportthe next one. And then the next one. My advice is choose the idea that you love most and that you think you can make happen the fastest, and put everything else aside until you make that one successful.

78. Wow Greg! You are a compelling writer, and your email got my curiosity going. I loved the story about the delivery driver! That is a powerful experience to share.

I made a decision a few years back to live out my gifts, even though at the time I didn’t think I had much to offer because I was struggling with parenting my two young children. As you know, my passion is parenting education. I have come to realize that some of my gift is the fact that very few parenting educators had as rough a time with their first few years of parenting. I can relate to parents who are struggling with anger issues, depression and marital conflict and they can relate to me. I love helping other parents become gentler on themselves and on their children; changing one family changes generations of families and is extremely gratifying work.

The other part of my gift is I love to learn more and know that my journey to being the great parent I was meant to be is not over. That’s why I started interviewing other experts, which in its latest version, is the Great Parenting Show. The show is going very well and I am loving the emails I’m getting from parents who are saying how the interviews are changing their lives!

Rob and I were blessed to have you as one of our mentors in real estate. Thanks so much for your leadership and for calling all of us to share our gifts to the world!

1. Hi Jacqueline, you sound surprised I can write! 🙂 Thanks for the kind comments and it's great to hear the success of the parenting show. Keep up the momentum!

80. I know if the following lists are gift and talent but this is what i know of myself. Trustworthy. Like to help others. Love to learn. Hard worker. Creative. Organize. Resourceful. These are my obstacles: Fear of failing, making mistake, ridicule, and being abuse or taking advantage of.

82. You are absolutely on target when you say we need to share and not be timid about it. The areas of life I truly love are health and harmony. People are living longer lives, but not healthier lives. This needs to change. Illness causes suffering, we were not put on this earth to suffer. Healthy people are happier, more productive and positive. People need to learn how to be good stewards of their bodies, and not abdicate that responsibility. I have made it my business to be and stay informed about basic physical, mental and spiritual health and harmony. I need to step up and be more active informing people how they can achieve and maintain great health.

84. I already have a blog which generates some money being ranked below 7000.
And I love sharing my experiences about how I think and get over the negative feelings slowly.
And I really want to listen to people. And write back to them, personally.

Is that a passion enough to put me into ‘rich’ category?

1. Hi Sangeeta – I'm about to release some content that shows why passion alone isn't enough to make someone wealthy. There's more to the equation and I'm excited to share it here over the next couple of weeks. So stay tuned. But you're on the right track, as you've done the hard work and now you just have to amplify it.

85. I already have a blog which generates some money being ranked below 7000.
And I love sharing my experiences about how I think and get over the negative feelings slowly.
And I really want to listen to people. And write back to them, personally.

Is that a passion enough to put me into ‘rich’ category?

86. Thank you so much Greg for your blog.Your words really Resonate with me, to the point where i feel the changes happening within the cells of my body.I am a true fan of yours.

1. Wow, thank you for your comment. That means a lot, as everyone who's provided a comment validates why I am doing what I am doing. I love sharing what knowledge and insight I've got and it sounds like it's helping a lot of people. So thank you for confirming that, and the question is .. what are you going to do with the changes you're feeling?

88. Dear Greg, Thank you! I have stepped up and am establishing a new natural perfume and skin care company to change the beauty paradigm…to actually break the addiction woman have to exterior beauty and to re unite them with their best friends, their bodies. 25 years work and it ‘s all coming to a head now…have written a book…or it wrote me in 2 days..and am ready to return to the speaking circuit. We will be producing some of the rarest ultra natural perfumes and skin care in the world. (Our current website is http://www.gorgeousbusiness.com , but about to come down, as we are rebranding now). The ONLY obstacle I find challenging is finding people here in Australia with an entrepreurial mind open enough to welcome us. Simply means we have to look wider, so we’re now going out the the world, have tradmarked into the USA , and are looking for venture capital partners. So if this excites anyone out there with an aesthetic for the bespoke, for luxury, decadence and elegance, all 4 expressions of consciousness…email me [email protected] and lets shift the beauty paradigm…what if we all knew we were gorgeous, just the way we are? And I mean REALLY! Deirdre

90. I like what you said and I have “what about” a question. “What about” people who aren’t creating value, but taking advantage of a situation or others for profit. I would prefer to think this doesn’t happen, but in reality it does. There are products or services that are created with the wrong motives.

You may say they don’t last, but then that is true with everything being impermanent. So I am just wondering how to reframe these circumstances even as I know it is an individual choice and hopefully all people will rise to a higher calling/challenge.

1. Hi Rhonda: Why do you even care about the people who don't create true value? Forget about them. Focus on making sure YOU deliver amazing value that inspires people to tell their friends. Forget about the others that don't do that. The universe will take care of them automatically!

92. I finally found the courage to go deep – and find my purpose and special gift and also my biggest obstacles. This work set free so much enthusiasm and gratefulness! It was absolutely worth the time! Now I can say: I’m the expert for people stuck in fog and incertainty, especially for solving all the “yes-but’s”, because I’m gone through (after more than 30 years of seeking!). I’m very happy and can’t wait to share the wisdom and guidance I found on my way with others. And I will do it one on one and by writing (articles, books, blogs), teaching and with online-seminars.

1. Discovering and believing what you're really intended to be doing is very powerful, so congratulations for that. Blogging and starting to share the message is a powerful way to get started. I'll be sharing more ideas and strategies on how to move your message out into the world, so stay tuned. Thanks for your input!

94. Greg, I want to tell you first that I initially learned of you through one of T Harv Eker’s CDs after the Millionaire Mind Intensive. Ever since then I have thought you’re great–not just because you have quality information but also because I sense that you really care about people. And this article is one of the ways I can see that.

I want to thank you so much for this article because this issue is exactly what I’ve been going through in my life, especially this past year. I’ve been saying I’m going to start a small business but continually found ways to stall out of fear. If I can use a car analogy, it feels like I have one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake. It’s incredibly frustrating.

More recently I’ve begun focusing on what I realize is my true passion and talent, which is adventure travel and writing, respectively. I really love discovering our world and want to tell everyone how great it is. I don’t have it all worked out yet and I still have fears but I want SO much to do this that I’m starting—regardless how it turns out!

Thank you for being there, Greg!

1. There's truly no better time to start a business than today. The greatest opportunities truly abound when there is the most amount of turbulence and uncertainty in the market. The reason that people spend money and buy things is because they're trying to solve a problem. There are a lot more problems during a downturn, and thus there are more opportunities. It's really that simple. So stay on the path and keep learning, and be ready to pull the trigger – you get to live this thing once, so might as well have fun doing it, and stretch yourself.

96. Wow, so powerful. Thank you!
I let "not having credentials" or "who would want to listen to me" hold me back! I have
realized those are just HUGE excuses and it is time to break out and start helping all of those people out there who are waiting and ready for me.
Thank you as always for your great inspiration and motivation. You are truly making a difference in this world.
A million Thanks,
Debbie

98. Thanks for posting this. I’ve told myself the same things many times, but as time goes by, we fall back into the same stale, old patterns & mental habits and false belief systems, and one needs reminding sometimes to get back to one’s purpose & potential. So I’m going to print this out and read it every day so that I never believe anything else about myself but these truths!

100. Hi Greg,

As far as helping people out, when I heard of the earthquake in Haiti, I decided to put the publication of my book on hold and recycle some of its teachings as they could apply to quickly rebuilding Haiti. As a matter of fact, the day I took the plane to go to Engage 2010 in June, I had filed a patent for that. In the following months, I learned that it would be a long process to have a new construction method approved by the Haitian Rebuilding Commission. Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of Haitians were still living in makeshift tents. I then developped an innovative temporary shelter system. At this point, it became evident that nothing could be done until more rubble would be removed. That’s when I came up with my third idea, which is a method for quickly removing rubble.

The action I took was to prepare a video on my site
http://tinyurl.com/rubble-removal

Next is trying to get the attention of the media to promote the idea and get the necessary resources to make realize it.

102. THank you! This was sent to me by a friend today and I was definitely meant to read it today. Today I turned in my resignation for my job to enable me to be free to step out and share my gifts with others as I guide them in uncovering the gifts and talents they carry inside of themselves. I have no idea how this is actually going to unfold but will continue to follow the guidance i am receiving from within. I was born to teach and guide others. It is where I have experienced my grearest joys and peace in life. It is time to retr5un to my gift as i reach to children, youth, women and men who may have lost their way. They need to know it is only a detour until they get to where they are meant to be.

Blessings to you,

a fellow traveller

104. Love this article Greg. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me other than it is very fun. I love sports. I love athletes. I love being an athlete. I want to become the fundraising and branding guy in sports both youth and professional. I have a brilliant system I am in the begining stages of creating. I have started a business where I rep a few products that support my marketing and branding ideas. The obstacle for me is the sales side of it. Also for some strange reason embarrassment about it. And fear of financial failure.

106. Hi Greg,

I am extremely talented in teaching people how to move their body in ways they have never thought they could. Through Fuller Yoga, and the Fuller Mat I use inspiration and literally help people get unstuck.

108. I really needed to hear this; thank you, Greg. Now, since you asked … the most obvious of my gifts is that I am a world-class lettering artist … something like one out of 21 million in this arena. I only mention this to explain why it’s so obvious that I am not living up to what God put me here to do.

I’ve been “working on” my website for 6 years (ridiculous!). I’m still doing mostly addressing and place cards (which use only a small fraction of my abilities) instead of pursuing the work I really love (one-of-a-kind decorated certificates, and lettering-based fine art). Even after many years, my business income is pathetically low.

Why am I allowing myself to stay stuck and continue playing small, when clearly I’m meant to do much more? I have put huge amounts of time and study into this, but I still haven’t figured out exactly what my problem is. The best I can come up with is fear, lack of self-confidence, major procrastination. I rarely take action and follow through. I haven’t yet figured out what will get me moving along the path to the life I know I was meant to live.

110. Hi, Greg!

I have 11 creditors and I am not paying expected money to them more than 1 year. I have fear that If I will say something in public then somebody from them will say "How can you inspire others??!! How can you talk about mind power and that everything is possible??!!! Let's first pay your debts and then speak about ideas of mind power etc. Prove your ideas – walk your talk!"

I must prove on my example that mind power is real tool. Thats it. I have to earn 520 000 EUR. and only then I will talk to somebody.

Am I wrong?

Thank you Greg – you are injecting in me energy.

1. Hi Janis: It depends on what it is you are trying to do and how you're trying to help others. Obviously you don't feel good trying to help people, and at the same time having this hanging over your head. The sooner you can resolve those challenges the better, but don't think that you can't begin to share just because you have your own challenges. There are a LOT of people facing financial challenges right now, but that doesn't mean they don't have anything value to share with others. In fact, if everyone DID step up and share what their talent or gift is, that would help alot of other people who NEED the help (which is why they are stuck where they are right now). If someone were to challenge you, you would simply acknowledge it and say yes, I have my own challenges.. but I'm not letting it paralyze me, and that's truly the power of the mind. You can let it stop you and keep you small, or you can use it to overcome your challenges. The choice is yours. In my mind, I think you're doing yourself a disservice not stepping up and starting to share now. Just because you have financial challenges doesn't mean you don't have any value to share with others.

112. I completely agree with your statement- (the reward and compensation you get from the world is equal to the amount of VALUE you create for others.) As a member of REIN, I'm always sharing insight from my experience in investing and sharing it with my fellow co-workers. I only direct them to great R.E. books, websites, such as yours and R.E. articles that I've used to help me achieve my goals. In doing so, people have returned overtime to share their success with me and it feels great to have played even just a small role in "inspiring" them to educate and create success for themselves.

114. I have really been putting a lot of thought into this one. Right now I am a carpenter working for a paycheque with a large company. I'm definitely finding it's not for me for me anymore. I don't feel like I am helping anyone out like I know I can. Right now the biggest obstacle for me is where to start and how to start. I want to help people purchase real estate investment properties and guide them through the process. My website is based solely on that, so I am working now to get the site SEO'd.

116. Yes Greg it is about I stepped up. I teach parenting classes and I see first hand how if you give what you have it can change another persons life. I haved dedicated my life to giving the knowledge wisdom, humor and love that I have to others. I am happy now and more contented with myself. Thank you for the reminder. Your gifts are given to you but they are ultimately for others to benefit from. What a great way to start my work day. Blessing to you and yours.

117. Hi, Greg! I never envolve in the business. My husband is very appasionte person when begin anyone thing. Right now he begins one business and is workig very hard. I try to help him, but is very difficult for me to create in this deal. I am reading books that can me believe that I really could help the people and don't disturbe their spiritual peace. Thanks for answer me, Galyna

1. My best suggestion is to do your own thing, and not try to 'support' him in his business. Sometimes the best thing you can do is let someone doing their own thing, while you focus on what you want to do. A lot of husbands and wives are not in business together, because that's a very complicated thing to make successful. Sometimes it works, but if it doesn't for you, that doesn't mean it's bad, just that you need to develop your own interests and business if that's what you want to do.

119. Thanks, I feel like Pete is my name, not re-Peter, I appreciate all that you do but I find inspiration is available in many forms and places. I believe that Paralysis from analysis may be holding me back. I enjoy researching and reading and searching, I will read through some of this “thread”- I believe it is called, because I must Take Action. How best to Monetize? Progress is better than Perfection, so Perhaps I can answer my own questions. ( in case it is not obvious I love P words )

121. Hi, and you are right, i wish i knew what to do to get that job so that i can have the money to do what i am born for, which is sing and compose:)
Want to share but all my feeling is that money in the last years have really little value, they are merely printed paper that doesn’t have even gold covering it.
We all need it though to attain professional development and pay people who can help us or our kids unfold.
it feels like the times have changed, and we need to change somehow, and to be aligned with the source, but the material thinking is on the way.
not sure why this is so strong as a feeling, so all the talk about abundance that i have listened to in the last 6 months, is great and feels good, but when the people who delivered it refuse to help when you don’t have the money to pay them anymore, because you are unemployed and just help people who already have established sources of income that are there from the past, it feels kinds of not sincere. Especially if you gave it all when you could.
You are a great soul and i thank you for reaching out.
Darina

1. Hi Darina:
If I understand what you're saying, you're suggesting that it's the duty of successful people to teach unsuccessful people how to become more successful without paying for it. While I think it's important that people who are successful share their knowledge and try to help a lot of people, I don't think it's a given that if someone can't afford the information, they have a right to get it for free. The truth is, there is a LOT of great information available without paying for it. I try to do that here on the blog, providing some extremely valuable insight and material. I give away a lot of my best ideas here, because I know it will serve people .. and I know that it's good for business too. The problem is that if I gave all my ideas and thoughts away for free, I wouldn't be able to make a living.. and then I wouldn't be able to help people, because I wouldn't have the time or money to spend creating this blog, giving away programs, etc. So I think you need to take some accountability and instead of saying it's the fault of the people who won't share all their information with you, to take control and USE the information that IS free, and be creative how to access great knowledge. I hope you understand where I'm coming from on this, and not trying to be critical. But I am a true believer that the moment you start blaming other people for your situation, you're already defeated. Just don't want that to happen to you. Good luck in your journey.

127. Greg, you're setting the stage and encouraging people to share their unique talents with the world. As a Financial Engineer, the first advice i give to people i help is always to invest in their #1 asset, themselves. Cultivating your value to the world will pay dividends for life! Not only financially, but in ways which contribute to a greater good.
I like what you're doing Greg, don't stop!

129. It’s been three long years since I’ve created this website in the hopes of raising funds to finance projects which my non-profit organization supports in a Third World country

What success we have had, if you call it a success, is dismally small. But we hold firm in our belief in helping others who are not as fortunate as you and I.

We are committed to it and for that matter have expanded our vision to include housing for the displaced in this Third World country, victims of natural disasters that swept their dwellings into rivers of mud caused these disasters.

Wishing and dreaming are good. Doing what we’d like to accomplish is another thing. To reach our modest goals, we need to look for programs that would generate the funds we need. We think we have found them and we will pursue those more aggressively now, thanks to your post in stepping up to help others.

130. I like what you said but i know i have lots of gifts and talents but sometimes when a person think about waht are actually the talent or gift then nothing seems to pop up.

131. “If you do this, and you do it for the right reasons, the universe will conspire to reward you for it.”
Just wondering: what are the right reasons in the framework of the universe?

132. Hi Greg, Thank you for your action-provoking words. They inspire me beyond anything I’ve read by a dozen or more online business/marketing experts, since I began my online quest three or four years ago.

Re helping people, I’ve been at it for years, from voluntary work in inner Sydney, to establishing a 100% free website packed with useful, eco-friendly info. This is an outlet for my main aim, to inform and inspire the reader to unite aesthetics and ecology in the design of her functional, sustainable garden.

I also reply to every email request for information, whether from here in Australia or overseas.

I’m now moving away from drawing plans, writing specifications, etc. for individual clients, as I need to broadcast an important message far and wide; and I want to earn a decent income.

I love developing my (copy)writing, photography and audio-visual presentation skills. My biggest obstacle in my life at present is overcoming my deficient administrative/organisational skills (by delegating or outsourcing?) Or maybe, not knowing where or how to start automating or deciding which software to use to help me become more efficient and effective.

Feeling more confident now, and looking forward to learning more from you.

A big ‘Thank you’.

133. I help people feel at ease by coming home to a clean house. I help people feel relaxed and organized by coming home to a clean house.
I put a smile on peoples faces by coming home to a clean house.
How should I translate this. I’m very mindful to cleaning each and everyones home. I take pride in it and I enjoy it. I don’t get rich by doing it but I do get lots of love and gratefulness from them.

1. Joe, you have a client base of consumers. They consume. Put yourself in a position to supply what they consume, especially items that add value and health and possibly wealth to them. Thsi will creat a backend revenue stream for you that does not require your effort over and over agian. I have more to share with you, email me if you like.

134. Greetings from Peru:
Recently, I’ve put myself into a “brainwashing” process, because I realized that I had (and still have) A TON of trash in my mind. Now that I know it’s something possible to do, I’m doing my best every day to think more properly about myself, my family, my life, money, the world… Sometimes it’s really easy, but most of the time I have to struggle with much frustration and anxiety. I think it’s OK, though, because life is not easy for anyone, and, well, it’s much better than growing into an embittered person (lol).
I’m an English teacher here in Peru, and while I love my job, it really annoys me when people don’t value things like knowledge in a proper way.
I live in Juliaca, one of the most economically active cities here, and people have lots of money, but when it comes to buying a product or asking for a service, they just don’t want to pay the price they’re asked to. Interestingly enough, this doesn’t happen when they buy things or contract services from “big places”, like department stores and such. How can I deal with such an attitude? Moreover, many people here just deceive others when it comes to money, and I’ve lent money to some people when I had some, but when I needed that money to afford my basic needs when I had trouble, they didn’t want to return it!
Finally, there is a concept I want to understand thoroughly: how can I create value for others? What does it mean? I have many different skills and talents, but I learned through experience that there are many of them that I don’t want to focus my life on. I’ve come to the conclusion that what I want to do with my life is:
1. to teach: I’ve learned lots of things (I studied Medicine, and I’m an avid reader, that’s why I got to learn about so many different topics), and I don’t want to keep that knowledge to myself. I don’t really care if this career is not well-paid or if people despise me for being “just a teacher”, but sometimes I wonder, “Will I ever get to do the things I want with a teacher’s wage?” How can I create value for others by doing this?
2. to explore my artistic abilities: I’m a good singer, I even composed a number of songs and instrumental pieces of music just for the fun of it, I wrote poems and scripts, I’m good at pottery and drawing, and I consider myself a decent actor; for long I repressed myself from showing that side of me, but now, after having started to change my mindset about myself, and having shown some of my works to others, I want to do something to show my art to the world, it’s just I don’t know where to start, or if it’s too late for me to do so (I’m 30). How can I create value for others by doing this?
I’m still confused about many things, maybe that’s the problem that takes me away from my dream life, maybe I just have to be more patient, or more diligent, or less afraid… Maybe I just need some ideas. :S
Well, thanks in advance for your answers, and thank you for showing these things to the world.
Peace and blessings,
Rolando Luis Quispe-Hinojosa

136. Greg, your words hold truth. Truth I have known for some time. I am just three deep in a leg of an Executive Diamond. You may know this is a level attained through helping people build and create their own business using the infinite resources of the Amway corporation, I have been sitting on this thing for years and I have seen many people build thier wealth through this model. I know that lives can be changed by building it and I still won’t go out and do the work. My life is a complete mess and my self image is in the tiolet. I am constantly chasing a dollar to pay a 20 dollar bill in traditional business. I have lost my spouse of 23 years by sitting on my butt and not sharing the vision. My kids are grown upo and even the grandkids don’t call. I spend 100% of my time in social solitude of anyone close to my heart and I can’t even sleep at night. Why can I pull my head out of my ? Am I just lazy? I have always worked hard and never subscribed to any sort of assistance or welfare but at 48 I may well die alone and distitute! What are yout thoughts?

1. Gordon, There must be a reason you create walls and boundaries around yourself. Possibly a fear of being hurt or disappointed by others, or maybe more of a self worth issue. Ultimately, life is the Sunnis the relationships you have. It’s never too late to realize this and begin to build genuine relationships by giving first.

137. The biggest obstacle holding ME back is wondering what do I have to offer and having confidence step out of my comfort zone. For example I read in the book “Power” where the Author took out $2,500 out of her credit account and gave it away. I just don’t have that sort of faith that if I give away that sort of money that it will return. That is why I am not able to go ahead and also I find I don’t know what to do. I just feel that I have experiences that I can help people but I don’t know how I can make it into a money making idea. Plus I have wanted to become a Professional Realestate Investor just like John Burley who lives in United States. I got some lessons and information over the Internet but when I wanted to take my lesson to the next level to become an Investor I just couldn’t find out if there was anyone who had done the same thing as John Burley here in Brisbane Queensland, Australia. So that is what my block is plus I don’t think I have any talents.

1. I have “The Secret”, “The Power”, and “The Answer”. “The Answer” inspired me and challenged me to do what I need. “The Power” is about Love- having it and giving it. You do not need the faith to give away money, you need the faith that you are worth loving yourself. The hardest and most difficult thing for most people, myself included, is loving ourselves. John, your post reads as though you struggle in this area. Let me ask you, who or what do you love so much that they make your spirit soar and your heart sing? Whoever or whatever you love the most, practice applying this same devotion of love to yourself. Practice feeling this love toward you. It is not easy. In my case it is exceptionally difficult after a lifetime of being abused. I have to practice this every day, many times a day. It only takes a moment but every moment I have that I think of the people I love then focus that feeling on myself. I noticed over a few months my love began to grow. It grew towards the ones I love then it began to grow toward me. I began to have greater faith in myself and began to realize that I deserve to have my dreams become reality. I am discovering my talents through love. I wish you the best, John.

Sincerely,
Crowfox
USA

2. Hi John! If real estate is something you would really love to do, then I would reccomend finding a Rich Dad seminar. We have been taking them and they have helped us to get our real estate investing business going.

While real estate is great, my real passion is teaching people how to achieve change in their lives. I am gifted in speaking and teaching, and have been trying to get this off the ground to do seminars and courses over teleseminars. Getting everything else off my plate has been challenging. I realized today I need to break this all down into small bits and do one a day instead of letting the whole elephant discourage me.

138. Procastination; taking the first step of faith is my big problem. I know I have a talent and passion for teaching and empowering others around me. I have some ideas how to earn a living by it but I am not sure I am fully qualified for the task yet. I think I simply need to boldly step off the cliff…..to fly out of my comfort zone….to conceive and believe in order to achieve!

139. My gift is my story. I’m an average guy who had some health issues and decided to take unconventional measures to resolve some issues. I began fasting and meditating. During this period I had an idea to write a story called Hero Unaware. The very first person to read it said this:
“When my friend Vito first asked me to review a late draft of his book I didn’t realize what I was in for. The forward left me a little sad, reading that he was struggling with a sense of failure as a husband, a father and a friend. And the dedication brought tears to my eyes, seeing the deep love and respect that he has for his wife, but also knowing that he feels this love is not fully expressed and gets lost in the daily maze of life. But the deeply moving spiritual journey that the story took me on was something I was not expecting. Once I started reading I found I didn’t want to put it down. It felt like an old friend—one who wanted me to know something very important—was taking me by the hand on a journey through the meaning of life. I didn’t want it to end. What I realized the next day after having finished the book, when I woke from the most restful sleep I had had in years, was that it DIDN’T end. This day was the beginning of the rest of my life; a life which I now understand more deeply and a life which I will never take for granted again.”
– Paige Duncan

The problem is that I’m somewhat of an intorvert and have no idea how to market a book.

140. What you had to say, really has impacted my head, this day…I’m sure I’m doing many things wrong, and that is just my Opinion, but I know I am and have been trying, perhaps, too hard? I’m looking forward, to the day I can change a life, for somebody too. Thank you…Great Wake Up Call!!

141. happy to say that i’m finally doing it. it is fulfilling and brings a lot of joy. once i heard life is a series of three phases; learning how to live life, developing and building your own life and then giving/teaching/guiding others to learn how to live life. its certainly not a requirement to be in phase 3 to give to others, however, it does help. it may be a tough sell for a 20 year old to guide people twice their age in divorce recovery and dating at 50 advice, for example, but they could easily offer a training course on any number of technology topics, sports or advice to other young people. we all have something to offer, some unique talent or wisdom. i could even see my 73 year old mother teaching advanced culinary courses! bet that would sell.

142. I am a musician who have played the piano and even taugh piano for more than 25 years. However, my learning comes from being -pretty much- self taught. Now that a younger generation has come along with a sound of their own, me and my talents have been somewhat forgotten and ignored. Thats not the way I want to go out!

143. I was the happiest I’ve ever been when I saw first hand how the Toys for Tots Christmas program was for all practical purposes giving “junk” to alot of the families who needed their assistance and decided to conduct my own toy drive so that I could offer these families “real” gifts for their children. It was my “Santa’s Workshop.” I had stood in their lines when my children were little only to be given the same bag of dissappointment so I KNEW how they felt. I started the day after Christmas in 2000. I bought clearance items from Walmart and shopped on E-bay and found exceptional deals. In 2001 I was able to provide the entire Christmas for 70 children. I felt that “I” had never been so blessed. In 2002 Christmas was provided for 102 children. My cup was running over. I branched out and bought and collected blankets for the homeless in our town. Several hundred blankets were donated. As Thanksgiving approached I contacted a local Head Start program and bought the ingredients and supplies needed for 13 families to have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Christmas 2003 I was blessed enough to provide Christmas gifts for 160 families. I had thousands of toys. As this was happening my son would often ask how I was going to make this work since I usually had more month than money, but money came from all directions to take care of it. I didn’t profit from this except for the complete feeling of accomplishment and gratitude that I had that God had blessed me enough to be able to do this. Then things changed. In 2004 my daughter was getting married and being her sole supporter I was planning her wedding and my money went there so “Santa’s Workshop” was put on hold. It was my intention to restart in 2005. In January 2005 my Mother passed away. I was grieving and didn’t have the strength or spirit to do much. In August of 2005 my fiancee passed away. I was doubled over in grief now. I changed jobs, lost my job, lost my home, was taken in by a precious friend and finally found a job but my income does not even cover my neccessities much less leave anything over to help others with. Now I feel that I am totally worthless. If I cannot help myself, how can I possibly help anyone else? I honestly don’t need much material things to be happy and the thing that bothers me most about my current situation is that I CANNOT help others. I pray to God for financial increase to allow me to be able to find a place of my own, take care of my neccessities AND have the ability to help those less fortunate whether it be providing a simple warm blanket for someone on the street, allowing a family to build their own Thanksgiving memories or helping parents not disappoint the little ones they love so much on Christmas morning. It has always been my dream to help others but not in the doctor, lawyer or clergy sort of way. I want to give them something they can see, taste and feel. Tangible things that I know from my own experience DOES make a difference in peoples lives. Where do I go from here?

144. Hello Greg:

I live outside the US, in Panama to be exact. I have been following your e-mails along with the videos you have sent of your conferences. The speakers were wonderful not to speak of inspiring.

I am retired from a job of 36 years, and have been doing health consulting on my own using empirical knowledge. I feel there is more I can do so I decided to write a book based on what I learned due to personal health issues and that of one of my children. The book is a guide Latin Americans, since I have not found much written in Spanish as profound as what I have read in English in the area of Functional and Anti-Aging medicine.

Sometimes I do procrastinate, allowing financial worries to get in the way of my writing, but after reading this inspiring blog, I will commit to writing each day till I have completed the material and get it published.

Thank you very much and may God bless and guide you in continuing the great work you are doing for us.

145. Hi Greg, I so much value what you are saying! At the moment I have to make ends meet and I am struggling. My idea has always been that I must get my financial independence first so that I can be free to put all my energy in helping my fellow man. It is the one thing I really want to do. Now I work many hours in my office on maily technical matters in order to achieve my goal and I am not fulfilled. Your course including this article give me the idea that I can combine the two and give my life the meaning I long for. You have helped me get my mind going as to how I can achieve this. Thank you Greg!

146. Greg,

I would like to thank you for your words of encouragement over the past few months since I’ve been reading your emails. I felt that this email was directed for me personally and when I saw the date of the original posting, all I could think about was, what was I doing back then? I was at a job that I could be content with, but not really doing what I love and helping others the way I know I can.

Now, I’m in position to step out of my comfort zone and have already made up my mind to go for it! I’ve been attempting to start-up a non-profit youth organization for over 20 years now, and now is the time! I’ve been taking advantage of your free resources and your words. They have been an inspiration to me and have lead me to think in other ways to get to where I’m at and ready to Go For It.

I know I can help literally millions of people with my non-profit youth organization. Now it’s time to believe in myself and take it to that next level. So, Thanks for everything.

147. Each of us is a teacher (whether we realize it or not) – and it is our duty to teach and share what we know. That’s our “job”.

Each of us has our own perspective: a different vantage point and a unique perception and interpretation. There are things we can see that others cannot – and there are things that others can see, often quite clearly, that we cannot.

A “problem” is that with so much emphasis today about being an “expert” or an “authority”, many of us often don’t even realize what we know and could teach – that others might wish we would.

Perhaps instead of focusing on gifts, talents, and what we think we could offer, it might be good to consider how much we provide in value and benefit to others without our even being aware of it.

Rather than ask ourselves IF we are making a difference, I’d like to suggest we ask HOW we do. The actual extent or significance of the difference is seldom up to us to determine. Not everything is obvious, immediate, or acknowledged.

148. What an awesome challenge.

Years ago I started a small home-based consultancy. I helped frustrated job hunters to get jobs after they had struggled for months without any success. It was great in the beginning. Yes, even amazing. For the first time in my life I felt energised and useful. I was making a difference, changing people’s lives, their futures.

I was great at what I did. But as I became more ‘famous’, my ego swelled. And then I got greedy.

I also was battling demons in my head, constantly bombarding me with negativity, tormenting me with fears and doubts and telling me I was no good.

What I was doing was great, yet somehow I was terrified of my own greatness. I had so much self-doubt.. Who was I to be successful?

Eventually I couldn’t take it anymore. I was stressed out, burned out and self-destructed. I gave up. Like a turtle pulling its head in, I withdrew into a hole. I threw in the towel for the ‘security’ of a normal job.

I stopped contributing. Sure, I worked a job, but it was nowhere near the level of contribution compared with what I was doing before.

I knew I was selling out. Yet it was so much easier to ‘be nornal’ – to play small, to be lazy and yes.. to be selfish.

I didn’t fully realise this at the time, but something inside of me died.

I guess that’s what happens when you choose not to exercise your gifts, and choose not to make a difference. From my own experience, I believe when you refuse to be a light in the world, you put out your own candle.

I didn’t take into account how much I loved doing it, how much fun it was to connect with people, and give them a real confidence boost at a really important time in their lives.

I started admiring others and chasing other people’s dreams. I completely denied my own uniqueness despite encouragement from others.

Then one day not too long ago I got honest with myself. I wasn’t loving life. I wasn’t living life to my full potential. No way!!

I needed direction. I pleaded with God for wisdom, for understanding, for inspiration – anything to get me out of my pit, my pit of emptiness, directionless stupor.

He answered.

It’s now time to be an Overcomer. To overcome all fears, all doubts, all negativity and be a light in the world once again.

If you are struggling with your job hunting or know someone who is, I encourage you/them to get in touch.

There is hope!!

Eugene, this really resonated with me. Thank you for expressing so eloquently what has been hiding inside me. Thank you for the spark to re-ignite the fire and the light.

149. My gift and talents are several crafts that I love to do. I found that I had an interest in about 1957 and have been learning and perfecting ever since. Whenever I get tired of doing one craft I buy an instruction book and learn the next one of interest. Reason for that is I couldn’t find anyone to show me how to do the next craft I was interested in. I was determined to learn so I just did it myself. I have become quite good at each one. (self taught) I’ve sold a lot and given a lot as gifts.

What holds me back is exactly what you have said under the fist heading. “Deep down, you know that you’re not giving it everything you’ve got – but there’s something stopping you from just throwing off the chains, and “going for it“. I have a few websites and have even made money on the first one. Those chains are a difficult thing to shed.

150. Hi Greg,
I love the simplicity and power of your blog.

I am not sure that you’ll see this being that it was from such a long time ago but the message is as true today as it was back then.

My passion is helping women, especially young women, understand that they have the power to both create and live the life of their dreams without looking for a man or someone else to define them and give them their identity.

My gifts and talents are centered around teaching, speaking and encouraging. I have a gift with words and a heart full to overflowing.

I want this but I to am lazy and quite frankly I am looking for motivation and stimulation to come from outside of me. I want to be challenged by someone instead of really challenging myself. I want this and I gave up a lot to pursue this.

This blog post is a reminder to shift my tucas into gear because the time is now. It’s my time.

151. Hi Greg,
I am really touched and truly inspired by all that has been written up here.
A little bit about myself. I am a homemaker and I have two kids to look after. My passion is baking. So every now & then I will sell some of my cookies at a shop nearby.

I feel blessed that the shopowner is willing to help me sell my cookies and that not all the times the sales are doing well because here, cookies are hot only during festive seasons. I have this thought of doing big, Do some marketing strategy & get it serious (to own a business ) is my ultimate goal. But the commitment to my family
has to come first. So instead of waiting (or still do something small), recently I sign up to a welfare organisation as a volunteer worker. My objective is to help women who needs help to bake. Hopefully I can provide them new knowledge or help anything that I can give.
I learn something in life. If you want money, you give money(donate sincerely).. If you want someone to
love you, then you have to give love. So if you want people to help you, then you need to help other people as well. Be sincere and be honest.

I am glad that all your positive words will help me build my strength in building my dream. Yes, before it becomes reality, I believe that I need to share with the world
the greatest gift that I have that is my creativity. And make our life fill with lots of happiness and a joyful one.

152. I have just come across your website as I was goggling trying to find sponsors. I have a school of about 300 pupils, but most of them come from very poor families, I want them all to get basic education. Unfortunately I don’t have all the financial means to provide for them. I also pay tuition fees for two students at university, but recently I lost my job as my contract came to an end! My source of income was greatly affected and I can nolonger sustain those two projects I undertook, to bring them to where I want them to be.
How can I be helped? Please advise accordingly.
Thanks a lot.
