Clarity Is Power

Alex Mandossian has done. If you’re not already familiar with Alex, he is credited by many as “the greatest internet marketer in the world”.  You name a top speaker, author or expert, and chances are VERY good Alex has worked with them, and is likely good friends with them. I have been blessed to have Alex get involved with our upcoming event, Engage Today 2009, which is going to feature a mind-blowing line up of speakers like Richard Branson, Dr. Stephen Covey and Tony Hsieh (the CEO of Zappos.com) .. and will even feature a special address by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Aside from his incredible marketing and creativity genius, what impresses me about Alex is his ability to think VERY clearly.  He’s literally one of the clearest thinkers I’ve ever met. Alex typifies the saying, “Clarity Is Power”.  Because it’s true.  Taking what seem to be complex challenges and problems to Alex, it’s stunning at how simple he makes them, and how he’s able to identify what matters most, and what the most important steps are to take towards success. As you might imagine, a world-class event feature more than 20 of the greatest minds of our time has a few moving parts to it .. !  So admittedly, Kourosh and I have been dealing with an incredible amount of details and pressure, but I suppose that’s what you’d expect for this scale of an event. And through this process, we’re learning first hand how powerful it is to keep your mind clear so that you’re able to see the big picture, and focus on what matters most. So, how do you do this? Well, a couple of the key secrets I’ve learned from Alex include the following. First, focus most on what your intended outcome.  As Dr. Stephen Covey says, “begin with the end in mind”.  Most people stand in ‘today’ and try to see into the future.  By doing so, you’re naturally restricted by the challenges you have today.  However, if you project yourself into the future, and then look BACK to where you are now .. you can more easily see the path you need to take, because you can see where you already are. Second, focus on “what is the next actionable step we can take?”  Rather than looking at the totality of a project, focus simply on the next actionable step.  For example, if you have a small business and need to re-do your website, don’t put “re-do my website” on your action list!  This overwhelms your brain, because it can’t see the next step it needs to take.  Instead, write down the next ACTIONABLE step.  In this case, it might be “phone Bob the web designer”, or “write a list of the main pages I will have on the new site”. The point is, think in specific, actionable steps, NOT in big, fuzzy, squishy vagueness that your brain can’t “see”! While this may seem like simple advice, it is TREMENDOUSLY powerful.  If you’re feeling overwhelmed, TRY it.  You’ll see results almost instantly. By the way, if you want to hear Alex in action, he is co-hosting a series of teleseminars that I am going to be holding over the next several weeks.  Among other interview guests will be Richard Branson, Dr. Stephen Covey, Bill Phillips (author of Body-for-LIFE), Tony Hsieh (CEO of Zappos.com), Janet Attwood, Bill Harris (star of “The Secret”) and several other thought leaders and experts. The best part — it’s FREE.  The calls start next week (Wed August 19th) and to get the call access details, just go to this link and plug your email address in.  This is MY list you’re registering on, so you can be sure you’re not going to get a bunch of spam if you register. So go here to register for free, and I hope to ‘see’ you on the calls!]]>
