Are You In Flow Or Frustration? (video)

Vishen Lakhiani, and I actually met him while we were both attending a high-level mastermind with Richard Branson on his private Necker Island. (cool place to meet someone, I agree!) Vishen actually caught Richard’s attention because of his brilliance .. and Richard ended up asking him to meet with one of his personal friends to help him on a project (a guy named Peter Gabriel – yes, that Peter Gabriel .. the British music legend). Aside from building an 8 figure business in a matter of a few years, Vishen has gained an international reputation for thinking differently when it comes to business and success. In this clip from his top-rated talk, he explains the 2 key elements we all have to balance as entrepreneurs .. and more importantly, helps you see how to move into flow and STOP struggling in frustration. Enjoy the video, and please leave a comment below on what you think is the most powerful part of what he says!]]>

1. Awesome way to start my day… Thank you! I have been in stress and anxiety flow for way too long! My take- away today was to change my mind set to get in the flow and to make my to- do list much much BIGGER! thank you

2. Outstanding,Wow,Wow he spoke to my immediate state of mind right now(stress). My future vision has been inconsistent because I have been allowing my Now state to cloud my dreams.I will apply these principals TODAY !

3. Heh, how many of us are in the stress mode? My vision has always been there, and remains strong, but “enjoying the now” – that is a tough one. However, this can be worked on, and thus – improved. Attitude of gratitude is a good way to think of it. Also, at the end he says that he leaves reading marketing books to his team, and he focuses on his mind and personal growth. Couldn’t agree more, but when we are still starting and are a 1-person show, I find it challenging to balance between what books to read, and what to focus on. Developing ourselves first, then making the business work perhaps? Even though none of those areas are finite, it’s a journey and we can never “get there”.
Eben Pagan once said that it should be a 3-step process:
1. Master yourself (your ego, desire for material things, and for social status)
2. Master you business
3. Change the world (philantropy)

Awesome video Greg, thanks for posting it. Where can we see more?

1. Hi Amir – if you like Vishen’s content and style, we have a lot of it and I’m happy to share more. We’re getting alot of great feedback and I’ve got an article he wrote that’s equally awesome. I’ll post it if people are interested.

1. Yes please, post more Greg. I listened to this while doing 10 other things- then realised I HAD to stop- go back back & listen again. & again. I was in overwhelm and when I paused- I heard the wisdom in his words. Thank-you for helping me learn how to make my business, & my life, better

4. A good reminder of the positive emotion and importance also of gratitude in achieving “flow” and manifestation. (It also gets easier when you’re retired)!

5. Great start to the day! My takeaway is you’ve got to get out of the weeds to move forward. My now impedes my future. Thanks for the snippet to hear how a thinker/doer works.

6. Great video! His last words: “I realize that it is my mindset that is going to move my business forward” Brilliant!

7. Thank you very much. I thought I really understood how thoughts become things, and the law of attraction. This video brings the missing piece. I realize I am in a state of flow. This is why so many incredible things are happening- it really does feel like magic. Now I can let the worry go completely, oh boy am I in for a ride! xo

1. What was missing in the Secret is Thoughts + Emotions + ACTION = Attraction, is more accurate I think. However, I think what Vishen is saying though is that ACTION comes naturally from Vision + Happy, which actually I think is true. I’d maybe say Vision + Happy = Flow Now and add Flow Now + Habits = Flow Long Term

8. Trying so hard to be in the flow. The sttress I have is created because I have so many important and valuable ideas…and just not enough time and focus to accomplish them! Agh!

1. Right, YOU created this. So pick one and just let the others go. You can pick them back up when you actually succeed at the first one. At least you’ll get more than zero of them done.

2. I live in a glass house but Daniel is right Jim! Write all your ideas down then number them in order of priority for you right now. Then get started on the first one and dont stop until it is making you money. JUST DO IT.

9. …hmmm, ‘it’s my mindset that will move my business forward’…good one. Thanks for sharing with us Greg.

10. “I didn’t focus on marketing… I focused on personal growth because it is MY MINDSET that will move the business forward.” So hard to remember when all these tools out there seem to be the next solution. But a great point to keep in mind… its about making your mind bigger in the end.

11. It brings to mind the idea of why do we want to succeed in business anyway: because it will make us happy. So why not start and practice happy on the way.

12. Placing person deveopment and the removal of worry were the most powerful concepts presented in the video.

13. Wow! Paradigm shift here….being a details oriented person and trying to do things and read materials on what my business should do instead of how I should be thinking is a major shift….”leave the markerting for the other team members” know how to lead the business with personal growth and mind power by reading biographies and understanding how to develop a strong new personality. An Aha moment!! Thanks for sharing Greg.

14. The most power is in the unconditional happiness launch pad which is a nod to the Transactional Analysis model that says ‘I’m OK’ NOT ‘I’m Ok if’

15. Just beautifu! lIt’s interesting, parenting can have the same application, when I had me daughter I read more on personal growth than I did on parenting. I knew it would be my mindset and vision that woul be the most important to cultivate. Thank you for sharing this piece with us.

16. Thanks for sharing this inspiring message Greg. It reminds me to continually move forward even when things appear good….complacency will kill flow pretty quickly….

17. As always great content Greg. I really got what he was saying, when I feel down things just don’t flow but when I focus on being happy in the here and now, pushing myself to look at things from different perspectives if I feel stuck in a negative mindset, then things feel so much better and life starts to flow again. Having a vision and getting excited about it has also proved to increase the level of ‘flow’. I really get that paying attention to my present mindset and what influences it, is really important. Looking forward to reading his article ~ Thanks again!

18. His last comment summed it up for me! He says ‘It is my (his) mindset that is going to move his business forward.’ He leaves the marketing and other areas that need to grow to the respective managers and focuses on his own development. Are we all getting caught up in the ‘How’ rather than the ‘Why’?

19. Vishen Lakhiani is a close-minded bigot. He only has his way of seeing things and if you don’t see things his way, he thinks you’re an idiot. He professes open-mindedness but does not practice it.

1. Your statement itself sounds bigoted. You seem to be judging Vishen and coming up with your own way of seeing him. I think anyone who can run a company with people from 32+ countries in Malaysia of all places and innovate so much in so many aspects of business shows that his mind is fairly open. Maybe you were called an idiot because like this comment, your idea or whatever you pitched him was aggressive and idiotic and he was just being honest and direct? Dont want to get into an argument. Just sayin.

1. Greg and Tom,

Definition of a bigot: a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices.

You can be a bigot and be a successful business person. Bigotry has nothing to do with success. There are many examples in history. Vishen himself preaches having an open mind yet puts down any one who uses PC products and anyone who watches certain news stations.

Being open minded means being able to watch any news station and having an open mind. Being open minded means being able to use any computer you want. Especially as a business owner, if I can afford to buy 5 computers versus 1, why am I disrespected for not using an Apple product?

Who gives a crap about what computer product I use or what news station a person watches. Quit spreading the hate. Do you see Tony Robbins disrespecting anyone regarding the news they watch or the computer they use?

I never said I wasn’t bigoted or judgmental. On the other hand, I don’t stand on my soapbox and preach it to others. I don’t care if you like PCs or Macs. I don’t care if you watch CNN or Fox News, or Faux News as Vishen calls it. I don’t care if you own a gun or what you think about anything. Being open-minded means you respect the opinions of others. The opposite of what Vishen practices but not what he preaches. Don’t fight hate with hate.

Just so you know, I’ve never pitched him anything. Frankly, I wouldn’t want to work with him. Two of my friends have attended his Awesomenessfest though. One of them actually works with Vishen on a regular basis.

Evidence:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7RV0WHTyLc 15 minute mark. As far as the news station proof just look at his facebook page.

1. Shelly, I’m tempted to delete your comment simply because they’re so embarrassing on your part – but I’m not because you are the perfect example of a hypocrite.

You ARE standing on a soapbox, preaching to others right now.

Being open-minded does not mean agreeing with everything you say, nor does it mean not having strong opinions.

I have no idea why you would spend so much time trying to discredit Vishen, but all I can do is suggest you find a better way to spend your time.

The more you focus on what you don’t like or want in your life, the more you get it.

So are you horribly offended that Apple suggests in their ads that you’re not as smart for using a PC than if you were to use a Mac? I don’t see you railing against the bigots at Apple and feeling somehow judged or attacked by them.

Your argument is so ridiculous, I don’t like investing time even replying. But you’re a great example of someone who you profess Vishen to be – and provide a great example to the larger point of this thread.

Get over it. Get over Vishen. If you don’t like him, don’t watch his videos or read his stuff.

And ask yourself why you are really so upset by what Vishen says. Because this isn’t about Vishen. It’s never about someone else.

1. I think Vishen is a great business person. I never said I hated him or that I’m offended by anything he’s ever said. Once again, I don’t care. However, I don’t like it when people who have achieved some sort of “public status” preach about being open-minded and don’t practice it. That’s all homie.

A great is example is, Vishen will post a charged comment about Barrack Obama and then say, “Let’s not make this political.”

If you don’t want to make it political, then don’t bring politics into it. Vishen wonders why people are making hateful comments about him. It’s because he’s making hateful comments about politics. Vishen can give it, but he can’t take it.

I’m a successful serial entrepreneur. I own five companies and look up to a lot of people. I love and respect Vishen’s business acumen. However, I don’t love and respect his narrow-minded personal views.

If you can’t see that, then you’re missing the point.

If you want to say I’m on a soapbox, I guess I’ll step down now. 🙂

P.S. – I’ve started reading your blog and think it’s great! Keep up the good work!

P.P.S. – You’ve gotta love all the traffic you’re getting from Vishen right now. I think I might post some about Vishen on my blogs. 🙂

2. Hi Shelly. THis is the real Vishen. About the comment on PC’s sucking in my video vs Macs. That’s not bigotry. that’s an inside joke to my head programmer who sticks to a PC. Remember you were watching a video of me making a presentation to my team on Apple’s advertising psychology. It’s filled with inside jokes, bad puns etc. I’m talking to friends. All our videos on Mindvalley Insights are like that…Insider videos we share with people who follow Mindvalley.

On putting Obama on Omvana. Nope – thats not me making it political. That was me sharing a speech that I like. The whole essence of that speech was on race relations and ending bigotry. The few people who posted hateful comments missed that points.

No Shelly – I’m no bigot. Mindvalley is the opposite of that. We stand for ideas that elevate human being and connect human beings across cultures, race, religions. You’re welcome to come visit sometime as observe how we run a company consisting of 110 people from 32 countries working together.

PS – one point you do have. I have posted that I believe Fox News is bad for the American public. Not opposition news – but Fox News. Why? Because of few mongering and training people to think in Black and whites rather than seeking the best from both sources. I feel it’s divides America and is unhealthy for the country. It causes folks to label themselves left or right without forgetting the best ideas often come from standing in the middle as a centrist. I’m a hardcore humanist. Since Mindvalley stands against anything that divides humanity – we stand against Fox news editorial policies. Period.

3. Vishen,

First of all, thanks for the reply. I appreciate you reaching out and defending yourself, and your position.

As far as Fox News goes, all of the media outlets divide here in America so why pick on Fox? People who watch CNN think Fox News is the devil, and people who watch Fox News think CNN is the devil. Neither one reports the same political story. You could make an argument that they both divide humanity. So why Fox News? You claim for humanitarian reasons. Fox News is a fart in the wind compared to true humanitarian issues going on around this world. Why waste your time with Fox News? Get my point?

One could make the argument that Bud Light makes people drunk. I could go on and say that Bud Light is dividing humanity because it makes people drunk and then make bad decisions. While the argument is true, you could also say that every other alcoholic beverage does the same thing. I could also go further and say that all mind altering substances are bad and so on. So why just pick on Bud Light? Make sense now?

As far as Obama on Omvana, I wasn’t referring to that at all. I don’t mind Obama on Omvana. I love Omvana and the ability to mix the soundtracks with the speeches. What I don’t like is when you make a political statement and then say “let’s not make this political”. Then when someone says something political, you say “I told you not to make it political.” You can’t have it both ways.

You can’t figure out why so many people say hateful things about you, yet you continue to make silly comments about political figures or news stations which you know are going to elicit charged feedback. It’s like throwing fuel into a fire and not expecting it to go up in flames.

As far as the bigot comment goes, bigotry is more commonly associated with racism in today’s world but the definition of a bigot is a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices. I think you would agree this fits you to a T. I think if it didn’t, you wouldn’t have replied to me to try and prove your point. Maybe a better way of saying is you’re passionate about your opinions. ☺

I have followed you for over two years now. I started when a friend of mine went to Awesomeness Fest and told me about the amazing time he had. I love everything you do in business but I don’t like your approach to bringing people together, or lack thereof. It’s not working…

The old saying goes, it’s easier to attract bees with honey than with vinegar. I believe if you changed your message you could truly get your humanitarian message across.

I’m sure you probably don’t like constructive criticism but here goes… I think you’re a true visionary entrepreneur but a terrible spokesperson for your humanitarian cause. Before you take that the wrong way, really think about what I’m saying. What would Marther Luther King Jr. say to Fox News today? What would he say to CNN? Would he put them down or would he say a prayer for them? Would he continue to make jabs at a political figure who lost a race over five months ago, or pointed out the good the person has done? Would he focus on the negative or the positive? I’m sure you know the answer.

I think you’re on your way to greatness, just change your message. Don’t hate, congratulate. Don’t divide, unite.

4. Shelly – hang on. You’re basing this whole bigot thing on a statement in my video where I make fun of PCs (you know I worked at Microsoft right). And you’re calling me a bigot and going on this rant on me hating Fox news because I put up 1 or 2 FB posts over the last TWO years sharing a video or article critiquing Fox News. It’s a FB post Shelly. 1 million people regularly shareJon Stewarts critiques of Fox news.

And not ONE person said a hateful thing about me. They said hateful things about liberals and racist things about Obama on my page. This is what I suggested should stop.

Shelly – put things in perspective please.

20. I love me some Tony Robbins!

In his incredible “Creating Lasting Change” course Tony talks about having an experience where he was running and was feeling total ecstasy while doing so.

It wasn’t always like this. He used to hate running.

So while feeling this ecstasy on his run he thought to himself, “This feels good! And you know what, it also is good for me. Lots of things feel good but aren’t good for me. You know what else? It’s also good for others because when I have this ritual of running in my life I can deliver my message to people at a whole different level than if I’m fat and greasy. And it also serves the greater good. What would I call this? A Class 1 experience.”

Class 1 Experiences

There’s four ways of knowing you’re having a Class 1 experience…

1. It feels good

2. It is good for you

3. It’s good for others

4. It serves the greater good

In the case of running, if you become the strong and vital version of yourself you affect your world from a better place because of how much more potent your energy is and because you’ve relieved your body of stress with exercise.

And if you impact these people in a positive way, they’ll carry it forward and impact others so it affects the greater good. You can think of this in terms of the stone hitting the water and ripple effect that happens after.

It is very cool to see that Vishen is showing people how to get to a place of flow via Class 1 experiences! It’s no wonder he’s skyrocketed to success the way he has. 🙂

21. I was sent this link by a very close friend, I think she understands flow and where I am now in my development. When you share important helpful information you will have followers that will build your flow for you. Do your best, follow through and make it right. The results of a job well done create a happiness to add some pressure to the flow.

22. This was a great video. I have spent many years growing other’s businesses and now that I am growing mine being happy and dropping the worry on the way had been difficult. I am getting back to the vision.

23. The most important part of this message for me, since I do have a very powerful mission, is “Be Happy”. For me this includes having a powerful faith that no matter what goes wrong, and much has for me, everything will work out right through God’s grace. And even though much has gone wrong for me, I also realize that the things that have gone wrong have been very powerful learning experiences. Also getting through some of them has seemed, in retrospective, like miracles. I still don’t know how I did accomplish some of the things I did.
So I am very grateful.
