Free Download: 7 Lessons From A $15 Million Dollar Business

MindValley to more than $15 million dollars in annual revenue, Vishen Lakhiani learned some pretty powerful (and counter-intuitive) lessons along the way. Since the video I posted of Vishen a couple of days got so much reaction, I thought I’d share an awesome article that Vishen wrote recently. I doubt you’ll find more real, practical and truthful advice anywhere. And this isn’t the crap that’s taught in business school – this is the result of real-world experience and success. Vishen thinks differently and zigs when the rest of the world is zagging. You’ll see that in this special ebook. (click the image to download it now) Enjoy it, and be sure to post a comment below with the lesson you think was the most important!

  1. The PDF from Vishen Lakhiani was very interesting and compelling.
However, when I went to his Facebook page, he was featuring a speech by
Barack Obama — and pleading with the folks who objected to not “get
political.” I’m afraid that endorsing a speech by Obama is “getting
political” and it’s an enormous turn-off to anyone who values political
or economic freedom. I’m sure that Vishen is very knowledgeable about
running a business, but he needs to steer clear of US politics if he
    wants to remain credible.

    1. What’s funny is that he specifically said not to look at his use of Obama as political, yet you completely ignored that. I guess that means you’re not able to acknowledge great examples of execution if they’re done by someone with whom you don’t agree politically.

There’s a lot to learn from people who don’t share your opinion, so I’d respectfully suggest you open your mind a bit and avoid being reactionary and closed minded.

Like it or not, there is a tremendous amount we can learn from people we don’t agree with – Hitler provides a tremendous study in persuasion and influence, though he used it for an atrocious purpose. But if you ignore and dismissed everything he did simply because you disagree with his views, then you miss the whole point. Worse, failing to learn from such opportunities risks allowing the same horrible things to be done again in the future.

      1. Totally agree with you Greg. We may not agree with someone’s point of view but we can learn lessons from their method and execution of success.

Hitler was highly successful at getting people to buy into his genocidal mantra (or at least be too afraid to speak out against it) and even with the whole 911 and Patriot Act nonsense which I do not agree with but in both instances we can learn how that “Influence” can be better used and with integrity and also what to look out for with people who try to influence us covertly.

      2. I agree, we should be aware of any helpful hints we can get, even when given by (or about) people we don’t agree with politically. There are opportunities to learn everywhere, but we have to be prepared to have an open mind – you can decide if you agree or not AFTER you know what they said or did.

  2. Consider, We (this crowd) are trying to further our Entrepreneurial endeavors.. President Obama should be considered the LAST PERSON for the business world to be inspired by. Vishen being inspired by this President speaks Miles about his view of this country and I dont want anything to do with it.

    just my opinion. Peace.

  3. Greg thanks so much. Let’s talk about what WAS in the PDF and why it was awesome instead of closing it off because of literally unrelated political thinking. There were some great insights in the PDF and all of them made me think deeply about the kind of business that Vishen has created. I even explored MindValley a little. Its quite incredible and the lessons shared were not only instructional but inspirational. My favorite point was about “pushing humanity forward” as the new paradigm of succesful business, which I’m seeing all over the place in my study of business. Greg, you are a great example of someone who has been doing that for years. Thanks for posting this and as always for all the humanity pushing you’ve done for so long.

  4. I loved Vishen’s PDFs and I watched the two vid links also. There’s something very compelling about authenticity and congruence. I like the simplicity of Vishen’s message and the fact that he attributes his success to concepts that are really simple – but just need discipline! Thank you Greg for leading from the front with this post; you’re one of my heroes 🙂

  5. Greg, thank you for this pdf. I enjoyed it and have shared it with my groups.

As always Greg thank you for your genuine candor to keep the issue the issue for expansion’s sake. (dialogue/comments below)

  6. Greg, THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing this! I don’t think there is a most important piece of advice I think it’s all awesome and important for me. I think my straight A degree has been a liability for me, that I quit my day job too soon and therefore stress about money too much, I struggle with business plans and would rather just draw pictures but straight A perfectionist does things properly (or not at all), I lost lots of money in a business I tried to start because working out an equity share when belly up with a partner, I haven’t until recently connected with any good networks to learn from, I’ve never had to sell to make money, and I keep looking at crap ideas thinking purely of making money so yeah needed this info a while back!! I am so inspired by Vishen’s words and totally in love with his 3 Most Important Questions exercise as I don’t like goal setting in the traditional way. This has all come at the perfect time for where I’m at right now.

So now I want to know when I can organise a tour DownUnder for you and your entourage of amazing people to come and share some Engage Today love over here!! I’m serious, tell me a time frame that works and I’ll start the planning!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  7. … the festering tumor of racism has reached a head and burst, revealing the malignancy of a troubled past … time to heal

  8. Vishen you are a brilliant entrepreneur. But to simply post an Obama speech and say “let’s not get political” when you don’t even live in this country is just silly. The problem is… people here in America are tired of politicians who say one thing yet do the exact opposite. That’s why it’s a lightning rod, like it or not. Moreover, many of us personally like Obama, believe he has good intentions, but simply don’t believe in bigger government. We believe he’s destroying the very essence of what this country was founded upon. Anyone with a half brain can see that our country is gripped by a vicious plague of entitlement, which is being led by Obama. The actions being taken are what matters, not the gushy words and feel good speeches. Vishen, you are an intelligent person. You have a right to your opinion. But try seeking first to understand instead of making comments like “I live in Malaysia, a Muslim country. According to Fox News, we’re suppose to hate America.” When did Fox News say that, or even remotely imply it? Bottom line is many of us do not like any type of charismatic leader that seeks to increase the government’s power. Regardless of which party they are part of. For example, is anyone familiar with the Monsanto Protection Act? Is anyone paying attention? Or are most people just feel good followers? You decide.

This is coming from someone who is not religious and socially liberal.

Finally, I will say the speech above is damn good 🙂 No hard feelings.
