A recent email I sent out to our subscribers got a LOT of interesting feedback, and I thought it was a powerful conversation to share with you. The subject of the email was “Giving Yourself Permission To Fail“. This was something a friend of mine, Jeff Walker, said and it really hit me when I heard it. It occurred to me, this is the reason why SO many potential entrepreneurs never take action — it’s because they haven’t given themselves permission to fail. Here’s why I think that is, and how you can overcome this paralyzing problem that holds you back from achieving greatness. I have a saying that I think reflects the challenge most entrepreneurs are facing, especially today ..
“Most People Wait For Perfect Weather Before They Get Into Their Boat”
So what do I mean by this? Most entrepreneurs (or want-to-be entrepreneurs) are deathly afraid of failing. They don’t think they’re ready to really “get out there” and go for it. They don’t think they’ve got enough experience. They’re not 100% sure their idea will really work. They’re afraid what other people will say if they fail. It’s like they want to sail around the world and really live their dreams .. but they won’t get “in their boat” until the weather is perfect, and they’re guaranteed that no storms will happen. Of course, this isn’t reality. At some point, if you’re going to be successful, you have to decide it’s TIME to take action — that the risk of failure is less important than actually becoming who you really are, and achieving your potential. You can reduce the risk of failure by following the lead of others who have “been there, done that”, and modelling what you know works. (that’s where training and coaches come in) But in the end, you have to make this powerful decision to push forward. Going back to what Jeff said, I loved how he summed up the underlying problem … … Give Yourself Permission To Fail. Most entrepreneurs never give themselves this permission to really go after their dreams .. and they don’t end up doing anything at all. And I think the reason they don’t is because they’re afraid they don’t have every answer before they even start. They don’t feel they have enough experience, information, insight or help. They’re in a constant state of “Ready.. Set.. Set… Set…. Set….. Set……” and they never get to the point of “GO!” It’s kind of like like driving on the highway at night … you can’t see your entire path, but only a few hundred feet in front of you. But you have faith that you’ll find your way. The point is you don’t need to see the entire path to get started. You take the information you have, and you adjust as you go along. This is how successful entrepreneurs do it. They get out there and take action, and then adjust along the way. And within the thousands of responses that I got from a recent survey, it is CLEAR to me that you’re looking for more “light” to follow on your path to success. I believe that if I can show you a “proven recipe” that’s simple to follow, you’ll have the confidence to believe that you can actually do it .. and create that business you’ve always dreamed of. This is a really powerful idea for you to think about!Where in your life are you waiting for the “weather to be perfect” before you start ..
.. meanwhile, your life is passing by you?
Don’t let this happen. Get clear on where you want to go, follow a proven map .. and then get in your boat and start the journey. This week, I’m going to be releasing some VERY cool training videos that will help you realize you DO have what it takes, and what you need to do in order to capitalize on your ‘inner strength’. These videos are 100% free, and I think you’re going to enjoy them! All I ask is that you give me feedback on them when I release them, because I’m really excited to share a lot of brand new ideas I’ve NEVER shared before. And if you’ve enjoyed any of the content and insight I’ve brought you over the last few months, this new training is going to blow your mind!Note: To make sure you get the access details for the videos, make sure you’re on my subscriber list by entering your email address by going here. If you’re not a subscriber, you won’t get the details on how to access these new videos. In the meantime, please POST a comment below and tell me — are YOU waiting for perfect weather, or are you ready to set sail and make your life (and dreams) really happen?]]>

I am ready to set sail! Thank you Greg!
It doesn't matter how ready you think you are, or how great your idea is, once you put it into action (the most important step) you will always find it doesn't unfold quite like you planned.
The key is persistence and recognizing what's working well and what isn't. Constantly evolving, and tweaking your product or service and the way that it is delivered. Standing on the sidelines dreaming of what you should, could, or would do doesn't get you anywhere.
Take the leap, and do what you have to do to make it work. My experience in consulting business owners has proven to me that more often than not, the path to their success did not unfold the way they anticipated.
I would like to hear a little more about your initial plan Greg, and how it evolved into what you are doing today?
This article gave me the inspiration to finally finish setting up my blog and make my first post. I was paralyzed by my desire for perfection, exactly what you speak of here, but i finally decided to give myself permission to fail. I have no idea what i’m doing, but i’m taking action and ill learn along the way…thanks for the great article it gave me the kick in the pants i needed!
