Chip Bommarito. Raylene and I bought a condo along the beach in Cabarete on our trip there last month, and Chip was calling to let us know that it’s moving along and should be ready by year’s end. This has been a dream that Raylene and I have had for some time, and I can’t believe how excited she is about going down there and getting it all ready to enjoy. Splurging for luxuries like sports cars and tropical second homes are not things that come naturally to me.
Although I can’t say it’s a bad thing, every time I think about spending money on something other than an investment property, my brain can’t help to think “but we could buy 3 rental properties for that much!” However, I’ve come to realize that you have to enjoy what you have, and you can’t continue to build and invest if you’re never going to put it to use. So this condo is going to be awesome once it’s ready.
It’s 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and it’s right on the ocean in Cabarete, a very cool town famous for its kite surfing and windsurfing. The layout is cool, because they designed it so that all 3 bedrooms have ocean views, as well as the living room.
It’s about 1,800 square feet and the only thing separating the condo from the ocean is the infinity pool and the hot tub. We’re planning to go down to furnish and enjoy it once I wrap up our series of MasterWealth Training events in January and February 2007. I expect we’ll probably spend a couple of months per year down there, which is very exciting. I love Calgary — except for the cold weather and snow.
One of the things that gets me most excited about it is the thought of inviting family and friends down to enjoy the condo. And, the truth is I think it’s going to be a strong investment because of what’s happening in the real estate market in this area. Internationally, I think DR is one of the best investment opportunities out there, so we plan to do some investing down there — being able to write off the trips for investment purposes certainly doesn’t hurt!]]>
