The Big Day Arrives

Cooper Allan Habstritt was born Saturday, April 5th at 5:40pm at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary.  He weighed in at 8 pounds, 14.3 ounces, 20.5″ long. Suffice to say, he’s a big boy, and I still can’t figure out how this big boy somehow lived inside my wife’s tummy, or how he made it out. Regardless, I am very happy and very proud father now, and I can’t express the gratitude and joy that I feel today.  It truly feels like my purpose has clicked into place with the arrival of this incredible little boy. The first time I got to hold him was one of the most emotional moments of my life.  I get it now.  I understand what life’s about. Mommy is doing great and was absolutely incredible through the entire process.  I love her so much, and her incredible performance and grace under pressure has given me yet another perspective on her strength and focus. I’ll work hard not to turn this into the Cooper Blog from now on, but it’s going to be tough — how can I not write about the world’s most beautiful baby? As my friend Steve commented, Cooper is a great name because he’ll already have his name on all of his hockey equipment (for those non-hockey people out there, Cooper is one of the big brand names in hockey equipment). Thank you to everyone who has sent wishes and thoughts to us – they are very much appreciated. We put a few photos here for those aunties and others that love baby pictures –> www.habstritt.com/cooper You gotta check his hair out — he’s got crazy stand-up strawberry blond hair! It’s been an emotional couple of days, and I’m just so grateful that he has arrived and we now get to spend time with him.  He’s looking forward to meeting you soon!]]>
