ha ha! Originally, Raylene and I decided that we would not find out whether it was a boy or a girl, and instead have that surprise saved for the miracle of birth. In reality, this was what I wanted, and while Raylene wanted to find out, she was okay with letting me stay in suspense until the birth. Over time, she’s piled on the logical reasons as to why it makes more sense to find out the baby’s sex before the birth. Aside from all of the logical, practical reasons like “then we know what color to paint the nursery”, and “people know what kind of toys to buy” (none of which are a good reason in my mind to find out), she also made some good points — like if we know, we can choose the name, and then start referring to the baby by name and speaking to them. In Raylene’s words, “I can start bonding with the baby right away“. Awwwwww. Now how am I supposed to argue against THAT? Raylene knows me well enough that she can push the right buttons! So, I’ve relented and said I would be okay with finding out whether it’s a boy or a girl. The truth is, I have absolutely no bias or preference either way. If we end up with a happy, healthy baby, it doesn’t matter to me whether it’s a boy or a girl. Either one can turn out to be a great real estate investor. 🙂 So, at this point, we don’t know what we’re having .. yet. We are going to be attending the 18 Week Ultrasound in a little while, and at that point I’m told they can likely tell us whether it’s a boy or a girl. That’s going to be yet another emotional stop on this amazing journey we’re on. We already have the names picked out, so in a matter of a couple of weeks, I’ll hopefully be updating you with the name of our new baby to come. My friend and mentor, Keith Cunningham, said that if it was a boy and we named it Keith, he’d pay for the delivery costs. I told Keith, unfortunately, we’re in Canada so they’re covered by the government — but make me another offer and I’ll see what I can do. Raylene loves Keith, but apparently not enough to name our baby Keith if it’s a boy!]]>
